I’ve been in Scotland for the past week. Did I miss anything? Hey, new Feist single.
“How Come You Never Go There” comes from the upcoming Metals, due out October 4 via Arts & Crafts. I wrote an Exclaim! story about the album that got picked up by a bunch of sources including you know who. Neat.
I’m still in the UK for the next week, so I won’t resume writing as usual just yet. Now for that new Feist single…
On Thursday, I went to Vancouver International Airport around 5 PM. Approximately 37 hours later, I arrived at my destination in Long Eaton, England. Screw you, Air Transat and East Midlands Trains. I hate you both.
I’ll be traveling around Scotland for a few days so there won’t be any blogging for a week or so. Here’s “Hits Me Like a Rock,” a sunny summer single from the Brazilian party kids in CSS. The vibe of this upbeat tune couldn’t be more awesomely inappropriate for rainy old Scotland. It features Bobby Gillespie from Primal Scream.
Hey, CSS is going on tour. Go to Exclaim! for more.
Feast your ears on a spaced-out cut from Vancouver’s the Hope Slide. Entitled “Passage,” it recalls the dreaminess of Cocteau Twins with a spiky, hook-heavy twist. The band features ex-members of Hinterland.
Check out the Hope Slide’s self-titled LP (plus two remix collections) over at Bandcamp.
The Weather Station is a songwriting vehicle for Toronto’s Tamara Lindeman (a member of Bruce Peninsula). Below you can listen to the breathy, banjo-driven folk tune “Everything I Saw” from the upcoming All of It Was Mine. The song’s rustic, sunbaked sound is especially welcome now that summer seems to have finally arrived in Vancouver. Just think, it only took until the August long weekend to get hot.
